Lost and Found
Photography by Tore Svensson
Uncovered in a frigid garage in the heart of Småland, Sweden. This rare collection of photographs unveils the past through the eyes of the late Tore Svensson, captured moments in time five decades ago. With his trusty fixed lens Leica in hand, Tore captured everything from daily life in the Mediterranean, the beauty of the nature in Sweden, and photos of his young daughters taken by a loving father. His unique style made his photography look rich and effortless and made even the most mundane of subjects interesting and sometimes haunting.
Information for many of the photographs was lost when Tore died in June of 1987 but his photography lives on in this essay.
RWI caught up with one of Tores daughters Ann in Malmö, Sweden.
“Tore always had a camera in his hand and we got used to posing for the camera, however my dad did prefer to take photos when we had no idea he was taking them.”
Tores other daughter Eva who resides in British Columbia, Canada says: “It is so amazing to see these photos come back to life, they were destined for the garbage before they were discovered."
